Mogán is a municipality belonging to the province of Las Palmas. It is located south-west of 'island of Gran Canaria. With more than 18,000 inhabitants in the municipality, of which about 500 live in the village, Mogán is located in a beautiful valley that extends from the gorge of El Mulato to the coast.
Along the coast lies the historic fishing port in the past only means of communication with the rest of 'island.
The town is situated at an altitude of about 250 meters and is 93 kilometers from the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The connection to the network of coastal roads was the main factor that has promoted the replacement of traditional fishing and agriculture for its current tourism activity concentrated in the port of Mogan.
However, agriculture has not been abandoned: the traditional crops have been replaced by more profitable tropical fruits for export.
